Demonstrators lined Route 70 at Haddonfield Road in Cherry Hill on Saturday, Oct. 17, urging residents to vote early in the Nov. 3 midterm elections.

The rally was part of a nationwide "No Kings: Vote Early" day of action. The Cherry Hill gathering ran from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in front of the Wegmans shopping center at 2100 Route 70, one of 62 events across New Jersey and more than 2,500 nationwide, according to NJ101.5 and NJ.com. Organizers encouraged participants to check their voter registration, learn about early-voting options and make a plan to cast a ballot before Election Day.

6ABC reported that similar rallies drew crowds to Philadelphia City Hall and Wilmington, Delaware, with demonstrators holding signs and chanting. Cherry Hill participants also urged passersby to verify their registration status, according to 6ABC.

Organizers described the events as nonpartisan. The coalition behind the effort includes groups such as Indivisible, the ACLU, MoveOn and the League of Women Voters, according to NJ.com.

The "No Kings" movement first emerged in 2025 as a series of protests against President Donald Trump's administration, according to WHYY. Saturday's events were the movement's fourth nationwide day of action, following gatherings on June 14, 2025; Oct. 18, 2025; and March 28, 2026.

Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible, told NPR that the October rallies marked a shift from protest toward voter mobilization. "We're done sending a message," Levin said.

Several other South Jersey communities held events the same day. Lindenwold hosted a rally at the PATCO station at 1 p.m., Pine Hill gathered at Veterans Memorial Park at noon and Voorhees ran car parades starting at noon, according to NJ101.5.

New Jersey's in-person early voting period runs Oct. 24 through Nov. 1, with sites generally open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays, according to NorthJersey.com. The deadline to request a mail-in ballot by mail is Oct. 27. Election Day polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
