Cherry Hill firefighters are wearing pink on the job throughout October, selling breast cancer awareness T-shirts to raise $5,000 for MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper University Health Care.
The campaign, now in its fifth year, launched Thursday, Oct. 8. Over the previous four years, the Cherry Hill Fire Department and community supporters raised nearly $8,000 for cancer research and patient care at the Camden-based center, according to the department's announcement. The 2026 goal of $5,000 would more than double the roughly $2,000-per-year average from those earlier rounds.
The department said proceeds go directly to cancer research and patient care at the center.
Fire department members will wear the shirts on duty throughout October. The 2026 design is a navy blue tee with pink lettering.
How to order
Adult shirts cost $25. Youth sizes are $20.
Residents can order by contacting Firefighter Ed Micua at [email protected] or by calling or texting (609) 315-0609. Payment is also accepted through Venmo at @CHFD-2026-Cancer-T-Shirts.
The department encouraged residents to buy shirts for family, friends and coworkers, saying every sale brings the campaign closer to its $5,000 target and supports patients and researchers at the cancer center.
About the beneficiary
MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, located on Cooper University Health Care's health sciences campus in Camden, is affiliated with MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Patients at the Camden facility benefit from shared treatment protocols and research with the Houston center, according to Cooper Health.
Cooper University Health Care operates three hospitals and employs nearly 14,000 team members across South Jersey.
What's next
The fundraiser runs through the end of October. No specific order cutoff date has been announced, so residents interested in a shirt should reach out to Micua sooner rather than later. Orders can be placed by email, phone, text or Venmo.
