The Cherry Hill Education Foundation is lining up two fundraisers this school year, starting with its annual Champions for Children golf tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and followed by a Harlem Wizards basketball game at Cherry Hill East in March.

Both events fund grants for district teachers and staff. Last year's golf outing alone raised more than $80,000, according to the foundation's website.

Since 2007, the nonprofit has funneled more than $1.5 million into Cherry Hill Public Schools, paying for everything from iPads and SmartBoards to climbing walls, vertical gardens and trips to the Robotics World Championship.

Golf tournament details

The Oct. 14 outing, presented by Garrison Architects, takes place at Pennsauken Country Club, 3800 Haddonfield Road, Pennsauken. Registration and lunch begin at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start at noon and dinner and awards at 5:30 p.m.

This year's committee is adding a "Beat the Captains" contest featuring the golf captains from Cherry Hill East and Cherry Hill West. District administrators and Board of Education members will attend the dinner, according to a sponsor letter signed by CHEF President Jon Cohen and Golf Committee Chair Jack Tarditi.

Individual registration for golf, lunch and dinner is $200. Corporate foursomes start at $1,500, and available sponsorships range from $300 to $7,500. Sponsor registration closes in late September.

Wizards vs. Teachers in March

The foundation will bring the Harlem Wizards to Cherry Hill East's DiBart Gym on Friday, March 12, 2027, from 7 to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. The family-friendly game pits the touring comedy basketball team against Cherry Hill teachers and staff, with proceeds benefiting all district schools serving nearly 11,000 students.

The foundation is recruiting elementary school teachers and staff to volunteer. Interested players can contact Anna DeMarco.

In their July invitation letter, Cohen and Tarditi called supporters champions for the district's nearly 11,000 students.

Sponsorship and registration details for the golf tournament are available through the foundation's website. Ticket information for the Harlem Wizards game has not yet been announced.
