Cherry Hill families will have just 48 hours to complete required back-to-school paperwork and see their child's class schedule before the Sept. 2 first day.

The district will release forms electronically on Wednesday, Aug. 26, by 9 a.m., according to an Aug. 21 notice on the district website. Parents and guardians who finish all required forms and update their contact information in the Parent Portal's Contact tab by Friday, Aug. 28, at 9 a.m. will gain access to their child's schedule.

Families who miss the Friday morning cutoff won't have access to their child's schedule before the first day of school.

The district cited New Jersey's mandate of new policies for the 2026-2027 school year, and the state's late release of implementation guidance, as the reason paperwork is going out later than usual.

Superintendent Dr. Kwame R. Morton Sr. told families to expect key information on Aug. 26 in a welcome-back letter published Aug. 18, reminding them that all required forms must be completed in the Parent Portal to receive schedule access.

What parents need to do

Starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26:

  1. Log in to the Parent Portal.
  2. Complete every required form.
  3. Review and update contact information under the Contact tab.
  4. Finish all steps before 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28.

The deadline falls five days before the first day of classes, leaving little room for families who need to troubleshoot portal access or track down missing information.

First day details

School starts Wednesday, Sept. 2. Students in pre-K through grade 5 will have early dismissal. Students in grades 6 through 12 will attend a full day.

The district is also rolling out a bell-to-bell ban on personal internet-enabled devices under Policy 5516, along with new rules governing artificial intelligence use and screen time limits in schools. Both changes are tied to state requirements taking effect this school year.
