An 18-year-old Florida man faces weapons charges after police say he fired multiple shots into a parked car at the Grand Apartments on Frontage Road, then fled to New York before being caught the next day.

Brian A. Bush, of Sanford, Florida, was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree criminal mischief, the Cherry Hill Police Department said in a press release posted to X on Monday, Aug. 17.

Officers responded to the Grand Apartments in the 1900 block of Frontage Road at approximately 3:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, after a report of shots fired in the parking lot followed by a car leaving the area, according to Patch. They found a parked car that had been shot multiple times. No injuries were reported.

Police have not disclosed a motive for the shooting or explained Bush's connection to the Cherry Hill area.

Detectives used surveillance video, physical evidence and other investigative resources to identify Bush as the suspect. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Friday, Aug. 14, a car associated with the shooting was located in Suffolk County, New York. Local police there stopped the vehicle and took Bush into custody. Officers confiscated a handgun during the arrest.

The department announced the arrest at approximately 7:49 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, four days after the shooting.

Bush remains in New York awaiting extradition to New Jersey. No arraignment date or extradition timeline has been announced. He has been charged but has not been convicted; charges are accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

The Grand Apartments complex sits along Frontage Road near the Route 70 corridor, one of Cherry Hill's busiest commercial stretches.
