Local businesses and residents have until Wednesday, Sept. 2, to sponsor Samaritan's annual golf tournament, a fundraiser that supports hospice, palliative care and grief services for thousands of Cherry Hill-area families each year.
The "Drive FORE! A Good Cause" tournament takes place Monday, Sept. 28, at Little Mill Country Club in Marlton. All proceeds go to Samaritan, which describes itself as the largest at-home hospice provider in Cherry Hill and serves nearly 13,000 patients and families annually across five South Jersey counties.
Lexus of Cherry Hill is sponsoring the returning "Lexus Champions for Charity" component, which gives participants a chance to bid on a round at Pebble Beach. Bidding takes place during the post-tournament banquet, with proxy bidding available for those who cannot attend.
"Every golfer, sponsor and volunteer plays an important role in helping Samaritan provide compassionate care and support to patients and families when they need it most," Samaritan president and CEO Phillip W. Heath said in a statement announcing the event.
The tournament, presented by The Richardson Family Dealerships, follows an 18-hole scramble format. Registration opens at 10 a.m., with a shotgun start at 11:15 a.m. and a reception and awards dinner beginning around 4:30 p.m. On-course contests are sponsored by Mancine Optical, and a 50/50 raffle rounds out the day. The golf committee is co-chaired by Cliff Mancine and Roy Fazio.
Golf-only spots are waitlisted. Sponsorship packages that include play and dinner-only tickets remain available.
Residents who cannot make the tournament can still participate. Samaritan launches an online auction Monday, Sept. 21, at noon featuring golf outings, sports tickets and dining experiences. Pre-registration is open at www.SamaritanNJ.org/Golf, and no tournament attendance is required to bid.
