Cherry Hill residents who use Cooper River Park, walk the trails at Croft Farm or have been following the planned LINK Trail have a chance to tell Camden County how to spend its open space dollars.

The county is holding a community discussion on its Open Space & Recreation Plan on Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The meeting takes place at the Camden County Multipurpose Sustainability Building, 508-B Lakeland Road, Blackwood. A virtual option is available via Zoom; the county had not posted the specific link as of Wednesday, but residents can check camdencounty.com for details.

The Camden County Board of Commissioners said feedback from the session will guide future investments in parks, trails, recreation facilities, natural areas and open space preservation across all 37 municipalities, including Cherry Hill.

How the fund affects Cherry Hill

The county's Open Space Trust Fund backs projects across all 37 municipalities. In July 2025, the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved up to $27 million in revenue bonds backed by the fund to finance park improvements, land acquisition and trail development countywide.

"This is a very meaningful environmental initiative by Camden County," Commissioner Jeffrey Nash, the board's Parks Department liaison, said at the July 17, 2025, commissioners meeting when the bonds were approved. "It's providing $27 million dollars to advance the development and revitalization and the creation of new parks in Camden County."

In Cherry Hill specifically, the fund contributed more than $200,000 toward preserving the 3.5-acre Laurel Lake Preserve, which opened in May 2026.

One of the county's highest-profile open space projects is the LINK Trail, a planned 34-mile paved path for walking and biking that will run from the Ben Franklin Bridge in Camden through 17 municipalities to Winslow Township. The trail will pass through Cherry Hill and connect to the region's Circuit Trails network.
