Cherry Hill's Rent Review Board meets Thursday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. to vote on a resolution for Parc Apartments and hear a tenant's petition for a rent decrease.

The board will take up two items at the Municipal Building, 820 Mercer St., Room 208, according to the meeting agenda posted on the township website. Residents can also attend via Zoom using Webinar ID 846 0051 8256.

The Parc Apartments resolution stems from a June 25 hearing in which the complex sought a Consumer Price Index-based rent increase of 4.3756%. Cherry Hill's rent control ordinance caps annual increases at 5%. The board is scheduled to formally adopt a written resolution on that petition. Whether the board approved, denied or modified the request at the June hearing is not reflected in any public document available before Thursday's meeting.

The complex's last rent increase request drew council intervention. In January 2023, the board approved a rent increase for Parc Apartments, but then-Council President David Fleisher announced at a Jan. 24, 2023, council meeting that the increase was put on hold pending a municipal attorney review.

"We recognize there were serious concerns, if not blatant errors, in the process," Fleisher said at that 2023 meeting, as reported by The Sun Papers. Current conditions at the property are not known.

The second agenda item is a rent decrease petition filed by Alida Santana. No details about the property involved, the grounds for the petition or the amount sought appear in the agenda.

Such petitions are uncommon but not unheard of. At its Feb. 26 meeting, the board heard four tenant decrease applications at The Grand apartments.

Chairperson Randy Acorcey leads the seven-member board, which includes homeowner, landlord and tenant representatives, plus one alternate. Board attorney Robert Hagerty and Rent Review Officer Tanya Adams also serve.

Residents who submitted a Tenant Checklist in advance may offer public comment in person or via Zoom. No petition will be heard after 10:30 p.m. Adams can be reached at (856) 488-7870 or [email protected].
