Veterans from Florence, N.J., rolled up to American Legion Post 372 on Martin Avenue by party bus Saturday, making the Cherry Hill post a stop on Post 194's Annual Post Crawl across the region.
The visitors arrived at Post 372's canteen around 4 p.m. for a 90-minute stay. Post 372 members had hoagies and other food laid out and waiting.
"We were so happy to have Post 194 come by during their Annual Post Crawl," Sue Quinn-Morris wrote on the Post 372 website Sunday. "Thank you for including us in your adventure, and we can't wait to see you all again in the near future!"
Post 194, the F.W. Robbins American Legion Post, is based on Broad Street in Florence, a Burlington County community about 15 miles northeast of Cherry Hill. The crawl brings Legion members from post to post by bus, building connections between chapters that share a mission of supporting veterans and military families.
Post 372, at 1532 Martin Ave., has been part of Cherry Hill since the early 1950s. The July 25 event was open to members and invited guests.
Active in the community
The visit follows a busy stretch for Post 372. Members of the post's Sons of the American Legion and Auxiliary units participated in the Annual Veteran Suicide/PTSD Awareness Walk in Merchantville on Friday, June 27. The Auxiliary also provides meals for veterans at Home for the Brave, a 30-bed transitional housing program for homeless male veterans in Camden, every third Wednesday of the month.
