Four former Philadelphia Flyers will appear at the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill on Wednesday, Oct. 14, for a screening of the documentary "Cold War in Philly: Flyers vs Russia 1976."

The event, first reported by Jewish Voices NJ, brings the 80-minute film by director Joe Amodei to the JCC's Gottlieb Center for Jewish Life at 1301 Springdale Rd. The screening starts at 7 p.m.

Former Flyers will take part in a live Q&A after the film, moderated by Philadelphia Inquirer sports columnist Mike Sielski. MVP ticket holders pay $76 and get access to a pre-screening meet and greet starting at 6 p.m. with Joe Watson, Jim Watson, Brad Marsh, Larry "Izzy" Goodenough and additional Flyers alumni.

The documentary chronicles the Flyers' 4-1 victory over the Soviet Red Army hockey team on Jan. 11, 1976, at The Spectrum in Philadelphia. Joe Watson scored a shorthanded goal against Soviet goaltender Vladislav Tretiak in that game. His brother Jim won two Stanley Cups alongside him in 1974 and 1975. Goodenough, a defenseman who also won the Cup with Philadelphia in 1975, now lives in Bucks County. Marsh joined the Flyers in 1981 and appeared in two Stanley Cup Finals with the team.

The film features firsthand accounts from players who were on the ice that day, including Bernie Parent, Bobby Clarke, Dave Schultz and Reggie Leach, according to the film's website.

General admission is $36.

"We're so pleased to have the opportunity to bring this film to our community," said Sarah Sellers, director of adult enrichment at the Katz JCC. She added that the former players' presence and firsthand retelling of their experiences "will be meaningful for our attendees."

Pre-registration is required and closes Thursday, Oct. 8. Tickets are available at katzjcc.org/FlyersvsRussia. Residents with questions can reach Sellers at 856-424-4444, ext. 1234.
