Kenilworth Avenue, Kresson Road closures return for another week in Cherry Hill

Kenilworth Avenue is fully shut down and two stretches of Kresson Road face lane restrictions through Friday, July 31, as Camden County construction crews continue a multi-week road improvement push in Cherry Hill.

The closures, which began Monday, July 27, mark at least the second consecutive week of work on both corridors, according to the county's weekly roadwork advisory.

Kenilworth Avenue is closed to all traffic between Route 38 and Helena Avenue from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The same segment was shut down during the week of July 20.

Kresson Road has two active work zones:

Between Heartwood Drive and Middle Acre Lane, crews are running lane shifts, lane closures, and alternating traffic from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, July 27, through Thursday, July 30. That zone shifted east from the prior week, when work ran between Springdale Road and Middle Acre Lane.
Between Cropwell Road and Cooper Run Drive, a partial westbound closure is in effect from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Last week the same segment had a partial eastbound closure, meaning crews have flipped to the opposite lane.

The Kresson Road work is part of a $7.17 million contract the Camden County Board of Commissioners awarded in August 2025 to Richard E. Pierson Construction Co. for roadway, drainage and traffic signal improvements along the corridor from Browning Avenue to Cropwell Road. A separate $397,627 contract with Environmental Resolutions, Inc. covers construction management and inspection.

Commissioner Al Dyer, the board's liaison to the Department of Public Works, urged drivers to build extra time into their commutes. "Motorists should plan ahead to take alternate routes and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destinations," Dyer said in the advisory. He also asked motorists to slow down and stay alert for crew members and debris in work zones.
