Quickway Japanese Hibachi has opened at the Ellisburg Shopping Center, adding a quick-casual hibachi spot to Cherry Hill's Route 70 corridor.
The restaurant, at 1586 Kings Hwy N, Suite 29B, sits next to Honeygrow in the main shopping center building near Whole Foods Market. Dave's Hot Chicken occupies a separate building nearby. The Philadelphia Inquirer's Cherry Hill newsletter noted the opening during the week of July 28.
Quickway's concept strips the tableside show out of the traditional hibachi experience and delivers the food fast, at a lower price. Chicken, beef and shrimp hibachi are the signature items, and the menu also includes poke bowls, bento boxes and sushi rolls that round out a lineup built around fast, affordable Japanese food.
A classic chicken hibachi plate with rice or noodles and mixed vegetables runs $9.25, according to a 42Freeway review published Sept. 3. Beef and shrimp combinations cost around $11.25. Customers can add sides like spring rolls, shrimp tempura and chicken dumplings.
42Freeway reviewer Mark Matthews, who paid full price before identifying himself, called his chicken hibachi "overflowing with rice, vegetables and delicious chicken, paired with a flavorful sauce."
Inside, the space keeps things spare. High-top tables and stools line the front, with standard table-and-bench seating along the right wall. Matthews noted the walls are clean and uncluttered, without the oversized food photos common in fast-casual spots.
General Manager Lloyd, identified by first name only in the 42Freeway review, told Matthews he was excited to be part of the Cherry Hill community. Lloyd and his staff were welcoming customers as they discovered the new location.
