Al Jardine & The Pet Sounds Band will play Cooper River Park on Tuesday, August 4, after wildfire smoke from eastern Canada forced Camden County to scrap three free outdoor events over two days last week.
The county canceled the Twilight Concert at Cooper River Park on Thursday, July 16, and then pulled a Chicago 9 concert at Lindenwold Park and a Movies with Metro screening at Von Nieda Park on Friday, July 17, according to announcements from county spokesperson Mackenzie Bradley.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection had issued a Code Red air quality alert for July 16, warning that smoke drifting south from Canadian wildfires pushed pollution to unhealthy levels. Those conditions held into Friday evening.
What's been rescheduled
The Al Jardine concert, originally set for Cooper River Park along North Park Drive in Cherry Hill, moves to Tuesday, August 4, at the same venue, according to the county's event page.
The Movies with Metro screening has been rescheduled to Tuesday, July 28, at 7:30 p.m. at Waterfront Park & Marina, according to a Camden County social media post. That's a venue change from the original Von Nieda Park location. Movies with Metro is a free outdoor movie series run in partnership with Camden Community Partnership.
No makeup date has been announced for the Chicago 9 concert at Lindenwold Park as of Thursday. The county's original announcement said a reschedule date was pending.
Summer series continues
Both canceled concerts were part of the Camden County Summer Concert Series, a free lineup running through September at county parks. Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. announced the 2026 schedule in April, calling the series "a staple of a Camden County summer."
