A Collingswood woman and a Philadelphia man face first-degree racketeering, kidnapping and human trafficking charges after authorities say they forced an underage girl into commercial sex acts at motels in Cherry Hill, Atlantic City and Pennsylvania over a four-month period last year.

New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport announced the indictment Monday against Dezeree Smith, 25, of Collingswood, and Tamier R. Brown-Miller, 26, of Philadelphia.

The pair face more than a dozen charges, including first-degree human trafficking of a minor, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree promoting organized street crime, distribution of child sexual abuse material, and endangering the welfare of a child. Brown-Miller faces additional counts of second-degree sexual assault.

According to the indictment, the Atlantic City Police Department received a report on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, that an underage victim was being sex trafficked by Brown-Miller and Smith from July 2025 to October 2025 at locations including Cherry Hill.

The defendants allegedly brought the victim to various motels to engage in commercial sex acts with men, the Attorney General's Office said. Brown-Miller allegedly photographed the victim and posted the images on social media websites advertising escort services. He also allegedly gave her illegal drugs and assaulted her. Both defendants kept all the money, according to the indictment.

Brown-Miller also allegedly threatened a second victim in a separate case. On Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, Gloucester City police responded to a motel after a woman reported she was being sex trafficked. Brown-Miller told that victim he knew where her family lived and would kill them if she did not work for him, according to authorities.

Division of Criminal Justice Director Theresa L. Hilton said the charges reflect the seriousness of the alleged conduct, noting that New Jersey established its Human Trafficking Unit "for exactly this kind of case."

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Sarah Rizk and was investigated by Detective Kara Murphy and the DCJ Human Trafficking Unit.

First-degree crimes in New Jersey carry 10 to 20 years in state prison and fines up to $200,000. No arraignment date or bail status has been publicly announced for either defendant.

In a separate enforcement effort, the Attorney General's Office on Sunday reported that anti-human trafficking operations tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup resulted in 97 suspected victims recovered and 71 arrests statewide. In May 2026, the office charged 13 people in another trafficking ring operating across Camden and Burlington counties.

The defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
