Beach Boys co-founder Al Jardine brings the Pet Sounds Band to Jack Curtis Stadium in Cooper River Park on Tuesday, Aug. 4, for a free concert starting at 8 p.m. The show is part of Camden County's Twilight Concert Series and open to all ages.

Admission is free.

The performance was originally scheduled for July 16 but canceled that day after the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection issued a Code Red air quality alert. Smoke drifting south from wildfires in eastern Canada had pushed pollution to unhealthy levels across the region. As we reported July 24, Camden County rescheduled the show to Aug. 4.

Jardine co-founded the Beach Boys in 1961 after meeting Brian Wilson in choir class at El Camino College in Los Angeles. He sang lead on the group's No. 1 hit "Help Me, Rhonda" and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. Tuesday night's show is billed as a tribute to the late Brian Wilson, with a setlist spanning hits like "California Girls," "Good Vibrations," "Wouldn't It Be Nice" and "Surfin' USA," plus deep cuts from the 1977 Love You album.

The Pet Sounds Band's members were handpicked by Wilson himself. The group includes Al's son Matt Jardine, who performs Brian Wilson-era vocals on songs like "God Only Knows" and "Don't Worry Baby."

Camden County Commissioner Deputy Director Ed McDonnell said the series "provides our residents with quality entertainment, right in their local parks," according to a county announcement posted Aug. 4.

The concert is the second of two free performances Camden County scheduled this week as part of its Summer Concert Series, which runs through September at parks across the county.
